Instead, you’ll find the space to spend quality time with each other in a place that was made for romance.

When you’re planning a romantic Whistler getaway, there are a few things you have to get right. Firstly, you’ll want to choose the perfect hotel. Then you’ll need to choose where to head for a romantic dinner. And naturally, you’ll want to throw in a few adventurous activities for you to try out together.

We know a thing or two about romance here at Forged, and even more about Whistler. So dig in to our recommendations for planning the ultimate romantic Whistler getaway. And if our advice helps you find true love, we’ll see you back here for Valentine’s day next year!

The Best 3 Romantic Getaway Packages

Mother nature provides the setting, you bring the love

A successful romantic trip starts with where you stay. Of course, you’ll want a comfortable bed and a beautiful view. But it’s the little extras that show you’ve really put some thought into your trip. So choose a package that contains extra perks to treat your loved one (and yourself) while you’re in Whistler. You deserve it, after all.

  • Fairmont Gold

For the ultimate Whistler luxury, look no further than the Fairmont Gold experience. As you settle into one of the finest rooms in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, overlooking the entire valley, you’ll know your weekend is off to a great start. Add a private lounge with complimentary breakfast, canapés and sweet treats, and we’d forgive you for never leaving your hotel!

The dedicated Fairmont Gold concierge will make sure you want for nothing during your stay. And as there’s an outdoor pool, spa, golf course, and tennis courts on site, you’ll have plenty of ways to spend the afternoons together. If you are planning a truly luxurious Whistler getaway, make sure to check out our guide to going all out in Whistler for inspiration.

  • Pan Pacific and Scandinave Spa Package

The Scandinave Spa is renowned as one of the most romantic places in Whistler. Imagine soaking in a steaming hot pool while snowflakes drift down around you, and then curling up by the fire for a cuddle, knowing you have nowhere you have to be. We think any good Whistler getaway should include a trip to a Whistler spa, which is why we love the Pan Pacific Hotel’s spa package.

As well as a deluxe suite right in the heart of Whistler village, you’ll receive a voucher for the Scandinave Spa, to use for bath access or even a couples’ massage. All their rooms have cozy fireplaces and balconies with incredible views. And the Pan Pacific will do everything to make your stay smooth and stress-free, including booking activities and providing a complimentary shuttle around the village.

Put up you feet and relax at the Four Seasons Resort in Whistler, BC

  • Four Seasons Early Bird Ski

Is there a more romantic hotel than the Four Seasons? We don’t think so. This is true Whistler luxury, so if you’re into grand romantic gestures, be sure to book a room here. The rooms at the Four Seasons are some of the finest in Whistler, with sophisticated wooden features, stunning views and cozy living rooms.

And if skiing is your idea of romance in Whistler, don’t miss out on their brilliant Early Bird Ski package. If you book early, you’ll get free lift passes for your whole stay, which means more time to have fun on the slopes. The Four Seasons even offer a free personal ski valet and complimentary hot chocolate and wine receptions every day, to finish your day in style.

The 4 Most Romantic Meals in Whistler

You can’t plan a romantic Whistler getaway without planning at least one romantic dinner (we’d recommend several). Luckily, there’s no end of fantastic restaurants in Whistler. We’ve chosen some of our favourite romantic restaurants that are sure to get you feeling all soppy.

Bearfoot Bistro

Dinner at the Bearfoot Bistro might just be the best date you ever plan. Possibly the most sophisticated venue in Whistler, the Bearfoot isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a true experience. Start in the Ketel One Ice Room, where you’ll sample some of the world’s finest vodkas, at a cool -32°C (the cold is a great excuse for a cuddle).

Follow the fine booze with even finer food, choosing from the locally-sourced, internationally inspired dinner menu. And to finish, sample some delicacies from Bearfoot’s Executive Pastry Chef, topped off with their signature nitro ice cream! That’s a date to remember.

Red Door Bistro in Whistler Village

Set the mood with a splash of wine and 5-star dining.

Red Door Bistro

For an intimate, authentic atmosphere, and some of the best food in Whistler, book a table at the Red Door Bistro. Tucked away in Creekside, it’s the perfect spot for a quiet, romantic meal. The chef at Red Door effortlessly combines fine French cuisine with the best local and BC ingredients.

Try one of their unique cuts of meat, like elk medallions or wild boar chops. Or opt for their seasonal specials, created with flair from the freshest ingredients. Make sure to share a bottle from their extensive, and excellent, wine list. And while you might not have room for dessert, it would be a crime not to split their Bete Noir dark chocolate torte.

  • Mountain Top Fondue

If you’re looking to win some brownie points, treat your partner to this once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. First, you’ll hop on your own snowmobiles and wind your way up the Callaghan Valley, far out in the wilderness away from Whistler village. It’s a winter wonderland out here, with pristine snow, dense forest and stars twinkling overhead.

Just as you’re starting to get a little chilly, you’ll arrive at your private log cabin and get the chance to warm up in front of the fire. Then you’ll be treated to a delicious fondue dinner, served by your own private chef by candlelight. It might be hard to top this one for a while!

  • Il Caminetto

Revamped and revitalized in 2018, Il Caminetto remains one of Whistler’s most romantic dining destinations. The atmosphere is contemporary yet classy, and you might feel closer to the streets of Florence than Whistler.

Likewise, the food is up there with Italy’s finest, with a menu lovingly designed by Executive Chef James Walt, one of Canada’s finest chefs. A pioneer in the farm-to-table movement, James focuses on using sustainable, local ingredients to create memorable and inspiring dishes. And it works – your lucky date will undoubtedly be impressed!

Top 5 Activities for Couples in Whistler

No Whistler getaway would be complete without at least one adventurous outing. And there’s nothing like sharing an exhilarating, exciting new experience with the one you love. You’ll make memories you’ll never forget, and find yourselves closer than ever before. If these five ideas don’t float your boat, don’t worry: here are 100 more great Whistler activities you can do together!

A couple zipline through the forests of Whistler

Get the adrenaline pumping with a little tree-top adventure.

  • Ziplining

Taking on a zipline adventure together is surely as romantic as it gets? There’s adrenaline, anticipation, and the chance to cling to each other when you’re feeling scared! And once you’re over the scary part, you’ll find yourself flying hundreds of metres above the ground, with just your partner-in-crime for company.

There are a few different zipline tour options in Whistler, all of which offer an amazing experience. But if it’s romance you’re looking for, book Superfly Ziplines. Their tour includes the “most romantic zipline in Canada” where you can hold hands the whole way (n’aww). And yes, they’ve had plenty of proposals happen at full speed!

  • Bungee Jumping

For the adrenaline-junky couples out there, a romantic Whistler getaway wouldn’t be complete with a bungee jump. The 130ft drop towards the rushing Cheakamus River is a daunting prospect, so best do it with your favourite person by your side. Or if you really love them, choose a tandem jump and take the plunge together!

You’ll certainly never forget sharing this amazing experience, and they’ll even snap some hilarious photos for you to show the grandkids (one day). We’ve even heard there have been a few Whistler bungee weddings – how’s that for romantic?!

Heart shaped Target at Forged Axe throwing, Whistler

Can you feel the love?

  • Axe Throwing

Who really wears the pants in your relationship? Come and settle the debate once and for all with some (friendly) competition at Forged Axe Throwing. We’ll show you the ropes, and then the two of you can huck axes to your hearts’ content (just not at each other).

Fair warning boys, the ladies tend to be pretty great at axe throwing. So don’t come in expecting to impress her with your lumberjack muscles! She will be impressed by your unique and fun choice of date though, so you’ll be in her good books for the rest of the trip.

  • Canoeing

They say that teamwork makes the dream work, and that’s definitely true of any great relationship. So if you want to be the next Posh and Becks/Beyonce and Jay Z/Kate and Wills, you’d better hone those team working skills. And what better way than on a romantic canoe trip?

In summer, you can hire a double canoe on Alta Lake and spend a whole day paddling down the serene River of Golden Dreams with your one and only. If you’re lucky you’ll spot some local wildlife, like beavers or even bears. Bring a picnic for a mid-way stop at Meadow Park to top off the perfect day!

  • Snowshoeing

When the snow is falling, snowshoeing has to be the most romantic activity in Whistler. You’ll hike through beautiful old-growth forest, blanketed with fresh white snow. Everything is still and quiet, and you get the chance to really spend some quality time together in a true winter wonderland.

There are loads of great trails around Whistler, and you can take a guided tour or head out and explore on your own. For guided options, check out The Adventure Group’s snowshoe tours, which show you Whistler Blackcomb from a new light. Or if you want to head off on a romantic adventure, you can rent snowshoes from Cross Country Connection and discover the pristine trails of Lost Lake.
