So we’ve pulled together a few of our favourite activity ideas, both for your special day, and to keep the guests happy for the whole weekend! We’ve also got some great ideas for bachelor and bachelorette parties too. And Whistler is fast becoming a popular honeymoon destination too, if you feel like keeping all its secrets to yourselves!

Ideas for the Perfect Whistler Outdoor Wedding

  • Take the Plunge with Whistler Bungee

For the truly adventurous among you, what better way to say “I do” than standing on the edge of a 160ft bungee jump?! Choose a tandem jump, bring all your friends and family, and take a leap of faith – literally and figuratively. It may add to the wedding day nerves a little, but it’ll also make the highs of the day all the higher. Besides, once you’ve tackled the bungee together, you can face anything.

It also helps that Whistler Bungee is in a spectacular location, high above the roaring Cheakamus river, surrounded by lush rainforest and towering mountains. The crew at Whistler Bungee are well-known for their great hospitality and will be sure to create an experience you’ll never forget. Plus, your wedding photos will be way cooler that everyone else’s.

If it’s 360-degree mountain views and great hospitality you’re looking for, you can’t get much better than getting married on top of Whistler Blackcomb. Whatever the season, there are tons of options to get married on top of the world, combining jaw-dropping alpine beauty with the finest Whistler hospitality. You can plan your perfect day to suit you and your party: from intimate mountain-top elopements to huge parties to bring all your favourite people together. Maybe you want an intimate ceremony in the forest, with ski-in access only? Or perhaps a luxury reception on the patio of the famous Steeps Grill, with the peak of Whistler as the stunning backdrop?

Whenever and however you want to get married, Whistler Blackcomb is the perfect location. And it helps that these guys are experts in throwing a party too. If you know your guests are likely to get a little rowdy, what better choice for your reception than the legendary Dusty’s Bar and Grill? Or, if you’d prefer an intimate but unforgettable moment, why not team up with Blackcomb Helicopters and fly into your ceremony in style? The opportunities are endless, and there are plenty of expert wedding planners who can take all of the stress out of your big day, so you can focus on remembering every moment forever.

Our Top Five Activities for Wedding Guests in Whistler

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Whistler, it would be a crime for your guests to miss out on some of the best activities and adventures we have to offer. Of course, if you’re here in winter then they probably want to head out onto the slopes. But here are a few of our other favourite ways to keep everyone entertained for the entire weekend (and talking about it forever).

  • Get Competitive at Axe Throwing

Your wedding guests might be coming from all over the world, and all walks of life. So what better way to get them all bonding before the festivities kick off than an afternoon of axe-throwing? The best thing about this is that literally anybody can get the hang of axe throwing. And you might be surprised when your grandma beats the best man to the bullseye! Why not book out a few lanes for the afternoon, bring everyone along and kick of your weekend in true, Canadian style? Our friendly hosts are sure to show everyone a great time, and they’ll give you some insider tips on the best bits of Whistler not to miss.

  • Taste the Best of BC’s Craft Beers

And once you’re done throwing axes, it’s basically obligatory to head to one of our awesome local craft breweries. We’re lucky to have both Whistler Brewing Company and Coast Mountain Brewing just a stone’s throw from our doors. Both brew some seriously great beers right here in Whistler. The Pacific Northwest is a must do for any beer fan, with big flavours and loads of funky creations: from fruity sours to chocolate stouts and more. There’s always something new to try at both breweries, as they experiment with new flavours and no beer tastes the same twice. And there’s lots more great beer to be had in the Sea to Sky corridor. Why not make it a tour and check out some of our other favourite breweries from Squamish to Pemberton.

  • Take a Breather at the Scandinave Spa

When the party’s over (and everyone’s feeling a little worse for wear), an adrenaline-fuelled adventure might not sound too appealing. But Whistler isn’t all thrills – there’s plenty of chances to chill out too. The Scandinave Spa is one of our favourites, whether it’s deep midwinter or the high point of summer. Their luxurious outdoor hot pools, surrounded by fir trees with views across the valley are sure to cure any aching heads. And be sure to take a plunge in their cold pool to really wipe the cobwebs away. There are plenty of other amazing spas in Whistler too (we really know how to treat ourselves). Make sure you check at least one of them out while you’re here!

  • Explore the Mountain Trails

There are few better ways to get to know Whistler than by walking it’s huge network of hiking trails. If you’re looking for an easy way to spend an afternoon, take a stroll through the forest or round or lakes to get a taste of the Whistler life. We love the Train Wreck – accessible from Function Junction, taking in waterfalls as well as the remnants of an old train crash that’s now a graffiti-cla bike park. Or why not chase some waterfalls? There are some great short hikes to waterfalls close by: like Nairn Falls near Pemberton, or Alexandra Falls just south of Whistler. If you know what you’re doing, plenty of these are accessible with snowshoes in the winter too. If you want a stress free adventure, why not try a guided hike? Your local guide will teach you loads about the local area, as well as taking you to secret spots you’d never have found on your own.

  • Touch the Sky on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola

How do you make a wedding perfect? make it wedding in Whistler

Of course, a trip to Whistler isn’t complete without checking out the epic alpine views. And there’s no better way to see them that from the Peak 2 Peak gondola. Suspended hundreds of feet above the valley, you’ll have 360-degree views of the gorgeous Coast Mountains, and the creek running far, far, below you. Each gondola cabin can take more than 20 people, so bring the whole wedding party up to experience this quintessential Whistler experience. In the summer, why not add on an open-air chairlift ride to the peak, and test your nerves on the Cloudraker suspension bridge? Or stop for lunch at one of the mountaintop restaurants, and take a while longer to savour the views.
