Indoor Activities Victoria BC — Rainy Day Ideas (2026)

Let’s be honest: Victoria gets rain. Plenty of it, especially between October and April. But a rainy day here doesn’t mean you’re stuck at home watching Netflix. The city has a solid lineup of indoor activities that are genuinely fun, not just “well, I guess this is better than nothing” fun. Here’s what to do in Victoria when the weather isn’t cooperating.

Active Indoor Fun

Axe Throwing at Forged

Axe throwing at Forged is the best rainy day activity in Victoria, no contest. It’s indoors, it’s active, and it’s the kind of thing that makes a grey afternoon feel like an event. You get coaching, private lanes, and a full bar. Works for couples, friend groups, families (ages 10+), and corporate outings. Book a session and you’ll forget it was even raining. The downtown location means you can walk to dinner after.

Escape Rooms

Victoria has a few solid escape room companies. The Ruse on Yates Street has creative themes and well-built rooms. Escape Manor does horror-themed rooms if your group is into that. Most rooms take 4 to 8 people and run about an hour. Great for rainy afternoons with friends or team outings.

Bowling

Langford Lanes has 5-pin bowling, a classic Victoria rainy day standby. It’s not glamorous, but it’s cheap, fun, and works for all ages. They have a lounge with food and drinks if you want to make an afternoon of it.

Rock Climbing

Boulders Climbing Gym on Blanshard Street is open to drop-ins and has routes for all levels. Bouldering doesn’t require a partner or harness, so you can show up solo or with a group. They rent shoes and the staff is helpful with beginners.

Trampoline Parks and Laser Tag

Westshore Rec Centre has a pool with waterslides. For something more high-energy, Xtreme Air in Langford has trampolines, foam pits, and dodgeball courts. These are geared toward families and kids but adults are welcome too.

Cultural Attractions

Royal BC Museum

This is one of the best museums in Western Canada and it’s right downtown. The natural history galleries, the First Peoples gallery, and the rotating exhibitions are all worth your time. Plan for at least 2 to 3 hours. The IMAX theatre attached to the museum is a bonus if you want to fill more of the day.

Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

Just off Fort Street, the AGGV has a permanent collection of Canadian and Asian art plus rotating shows. It’s smaller than the big-city galleries but thoughtfully curated. Free on the first Tuesday of each month.

Miniature World

Tucked inside the Fairmont Empress, Miniature World is exactly what it sounds like: incredibly detailed miniature displays of historical scenes, fantasy worlds, and model railways. It’s quirky, a bit retro, and more interesting than you’d expect. Kids love it, and adults who appreciate craftsmanship will too.

Craigdarroch Castle

A Victorian-era mansion with 39 rooms, stained glass windows, and a tower with city views. Self-guided tours take about an hour. It’s one of Victoria’s most photographed buildings and a solid rainy day option if you’re into history and architecture.

Food and Drink

Coffee Shop Crawl

Victoria’s coffee scene is one of the best in the country. Spend a rainy afternoon hopping between Discovery Coffee, Habit, Hey Happy, and 2% Jazz. Each has its own vibe and all of them roast excellent beans. Bring a book or a friend and settle in.

Brewery Tours

Rain is basically the official weather of brewery tours. Phillips, Hoyne, Category 12, and Driftwood are all in Victoria and most offer tastings or tours. Hit two or three in an afternoon and grab food at one of the taprooms. The beer scene here is genuinely world-class.

Cooking Classes

The London Chef runs hands-on group cooking classes. You learn to cook a full meal, eat it together, and walk away with recipes. It’s a solid rainy day activity for couples or small groups who want something more interactive than sitting in a restaurant.

Family-Friendly Indoor Options

Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre

Public swimming at Crystal Pool downtown is a cheap and easy option for families. There’s a leisure pool, a wave pool, a hot tub, and a waterslide. Drop-in rates are reasonable and it kills a good 2 to 3 hours.

Victoria Bug Zoo

A small but unique attraction near the harbour. Staff let you hold tarantulas, stick insects, and other bugs. Kids go wild for it. It’s educational, hands-on, and takes about 45 minutes, which is perfect as one stop in a bigger rainy day plan.

Greater Victoria Public Library

The downtown branch on Broughton Street is a beautiful building with a great kids’ section. They run free programs and story times. For a slow, quiet rainy day with little ones, the library is hard to beat.

Shopping and Browsing

Lower Johnson Street

LoJo is Victoria’s most walkable shopping strip. Independent boutiques, vintage shops, record stores, and local designers line both sides of the street. It’s covered by awnings in most spots, so light rain barely matters. Fan Tan Alley in Chinatown is the narrowest street in Canada and packed with tiny shops worth poking into.

Antique Row

Fort Street between Cook and Quadra has a concentration of antique shops and vintage stores. You can easily spend an hour or two browsing furniture, art, books, and curiosities. Most shops are happy to have you wander and browse without pressure.

Relaxation

Spa Day

Leaning into the rain with a spa day just makes sense. Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Empress is the high-end option. Silk Road Tea House in Chinatown combines tea tastings with spa treatments. For something more budget-friendly, Float House has sensory deprivation tanks that are worth trying at least once.

Yoga and Fitness Studios

Drop into a yoga class at YYoga or Modo Yoga for a slower rainy afternoon. Both have heated classes if you want to warm up from the inside out. Most studios offer drop-in rates without a membership.

Victoria’s rain is part of the deal. But between axe throwing at Forged, world-class museums, the best coffee scene in BC, and enough breweries to fill a week, you’ll run out of rainy days before you run out of things to do.
